Strange factory in two Bengalis.


Shabnam Ferdousi's first full-length short story 'Ajab Karkhana' is taking part in the 26th Calcutta International Film Festival. The film has been nominated for release in the 'Asian Select: Netpack Awards' section of the festival.


The festival will be held at Nandan in Kolkata on January 8-14. The film will be screened in Bangladesh at the Bangladesh Panorama section of the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival to be held on January 15.


‘Ajab Karkhana’ is a 2016-17 government funded film. It is produced by filmmaker, producer Samia Zaman. The central character is played by Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee.


Also starring are Dilruba Doel, Shabnaz Sadia, Khalid Hasan, Helim Bayati, Dilu Bayati, Kitab Ali, Cristiano Tanmoy, Muntaka Arpan, Maimuna Momo and Mahrin Manya.



The story of the movie 'Ajab Karkhana' revolves around the life of a rockstar. Rockstar Rajiv came in contact with the Baul artists of rural Bengal and started looking for new meaning in his life.


 The film depicts the genres, genres and themes of various songs of abhaman bangla. Along with that there are rock and fusion songs.

The film has 5 basic songs. In this film, 4 poems of Helal Hafeez, one of the most popular poets of Bengali literature, can be heard as songs.


Three of these songs are composed by Vikings, another is Labik Kamal Gaurab. The other song was performed by the band Seven Minutes. The background music of the film is directed by Labik Kamal Gaurab.


Shabnam Ferdousi's 'Janmasathi', the producer of more than 40 documentaries, won the National Film Award in 2016. Besides, his films have been screened and awarded in various film festivals at home and abroad.
