The number of diabetic patients is increasing day by day across the country. According to 2019 data, 8.4 million people in Bangladesh are affected by diabetes.


 Health experts estimate that this number could increase to 15 million by 2045. The number of diabetic patients in every household will increase if they are not aware from now on.


According to experts, diabetes can be easily controlled by making lifestyle changes. It is possible to prevent this disease through proper diet, regular exercise, sleep, and worry-free living.


What is diabetes?


Diabetes occurs when the body cannot use the blood sugar. In this case insulin is not made in the body or even if insulin is made it is seen that the body cannot use it. So be careful from the beginning.


Diabetes can be divided into two types - type 1 and type 2.


Type 1 diabetes affects children. In this case the body does not make insulin.


On the other hand, type 2 diabetes is seen in adults. In this case, the body can not make or use insulin properly.


What do you know about diabetic neuropathy?


Diabetes can lead to diabetic neuropathy if left unmanaged. In this case the nerves of the hands and feet are damaged. According to experts, this problem is seen in about 50 percent of diabetic patients.


There are 4 common types of diabetic neuropathy. However, in the case of mononuropathy there are complex symptoms. Dementia may occur in the case of mononeuropathy.


As well as the upper part of the hand, all the fingers of the hand can be affected. That is why it is said that looking at the hand, one can feel whether the diabetes has increased or not. But let's find out, how to understand by looking at the hand-


** Weakness in the hands.


** Paralysis on one side of the mouth.


** Pain behind one eye.


** Double vision or seeing everything in pairs.


** Blurred vision.


Experts say that if you see these symptoms in a diabetic patient, you should seek expert advice immediately. As well as what to do to control diabetes-


** First, the weight must be controlled.


** Medication should be taken as per the advice of the doctor.


** Regular exercise is essential. Do at least half an hour a day.


** Check sugar regularly at home. If you see more or less, consult a doctor immediately.


** Eat less carbohydrates i.e. rice, bread and potatoes. Instead, fiber means eating more vegetables, oats, and shredded rice.
